With regards to scheduling coaching calls for my clients, I know how to get things done fast! For example, I've got coaching calls throughout the day with 30 minutes for each call with an aspiring or experienced speaker or entrepreneur. Every 30 minutes a new person calls in to talk to me. I am on the phone from the morning till the evening because I learned to schedule like this from John Gray, the author of 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.' He conducts all of his media interviews and such in a single day.
Now, I think it might be up to two days a month. By following this idea, I find I'm on task, and so are my clients. Therefore, we get more done in 30 minutes than some organizations get down in a 4 hour meeting.
What a way to 'Get Stuff Done Fast.' Check John Gray out! John is on top of it when it comes to getting other people to fit his lifestyle. If someone wants to interview for an article or a radio show, the person has to plan to do it on his media day, or they need to wait until the next month. Why? Gray has scheduled his life around his schedule, and because he has other things he's doing. Think about that idea for yourself. Are you scheduling other people into your life or scheduling your life around others?
I learned that notion of collectively doing one thing in one day from him years ago and I am like, "That makes sense." Therefore, when I do my coaching calls from my members, I do them all on the same day. I just pound them all out every 30 minutes. I have an hour break for lunch and dinner, but every 30 minutes I've got a new person calling. Hence, schedule your calls. I facilitate 30-minute calls. I do not allow 60-minute calls. I used to do 60-minute calls, and I found them a big time waster. The first 20 minutes were spent on stuff that did not matter to them or to me as they were the niceties we feel obligated to discuss like dogs, cats, and the weather. Now with the shorter time frame they reduce the chatter and concentrate on the meat of the matter!
I believe half an hour is more than enough. Come to the call, respond to a number of questions, boom, boom, boom, move to the following call. Okay, speed together with results remember? Here's the technique. Ready? Schedule them every 30 minutes. I hear many people say, "I can never get my one coaching member off the phone." Schedule them every half-hour. When someone else is clicking in, now that member is stealing time from the current member's time who is calling. As a result, they finish up the conversation themselves. Also, since the clock is ticking they do not waste time asking frivolous stuff that they can answer for themselves, and they don't waste time with chit chat about something that doesn't have value!
