It cracks me up, but people want to know who works for me, the Big Money Speaker. They would like to know more about our working relationship. Ok, Let me tell you the truth; Cindy is my sister, and she started working for me years ago for James Malinchak International, Inc. I should clarify; I say she works for me. However, she does such an incredible job. Rather, I have to say I work for her! Allow me to be very clear, she operates everything tip-top as my executive assistant. She is organized, efficient, and fast! There's no way I could run all of this without her!
Cindy and I get along well; we both have amazing work ethics, and we both get things done fast. Guess it is a shared family trait! What amazes me most about my sister being my executive assistant is that most people do not realize she is family. When they come to my Big Money Speaker seminars or boot camps, she is the woman handling the registration or the back table assumptively an employee. Additionally, she does not announce, "Hey, James' sister here, what can I do for you?" when people call trying to find a motivational speaker or a business consultant. Therefore, no one knows the scope of our relationships. It follows that adage, you never know who you are talking to, and you never know who they know!
At some point, some silly person will bash me to her or bash her thinking she's some peon employee, but what they don't know is that she's not only my executive assistant, she operates a major part of the business. Additionally, she reads and screens all email as I do not do email. She screens all of the calls. She handles the day to day business stuff that I do not have time to handle any more. I have presentations to give, flights to catch, clients to consult, books to write, and more...
You would think that people would have some common sense. It makes sense that an employee tells the boss if someone was being difficult or rude to them or rude about the boss. Nonetheless, that's not the case. It amazes me how some people will be rude to Cindy and not even consider that I am going to find out about their comments or inappropriate behaviors. The real clincher is that not only is Cindy my assistant and my sister she lives in the other wing of my house! In addition, her office and my office are in the same area!
It's so amazing how rude people are to her, my staff, my volunteers, my clients, and me. We finally decided to start keeping a file of these names to keep track of them as we do not want them attending a future event and causing trouble. Therefore, we actually have a file that we keep on people who are rude. Remember, when you're a drama mama or a shit-disturber, you don't always know who you're telling what and who that person is or who they know. My suggestion is to be polite, be considerate, keep your mouth shut, and be nice to my sister!
